Hades-Class

The idea behind this project was to create an element fitted for a game that already exists.

As an passioned EVE Online player it was reasonable to create a spaceship fitting into the style of one of the four races in the game.

My choise was the Gallente Federation which style is already close to Alien created by HR Giger.

 

The first concept was a modular ship design with 5 modular segments, as the strategic cruisers in game. But soon I noticed that this concept was far too time consuming.

A new concept was a ship with a single complete hull, based on the outline of the head of an Alienqueen and distinctive as an hammerheadshark.

Target were a polycount under 20k and an UV maping for 2 Texture maps, just like spaceships of simmilar size in EVE Online are made.

 

These were the main sources I used for the design of the Ship.

 

 

The concepts I worked out for the ship. The top and side views are the basic of the mesh, made in Autodesk 3Ds Max.

I'm really into symmetry, so the drawings are just the half because like in 3Ds Max I mirror it on the other side.

 

 

And this is the Result, the final mesh and rendering I made for my exam with a total polycount of 10,872.

 

 

Because of the ongoing V3 shader update in EVE Online, I decided to overwork the ship and the textures so that it is appropriate to the new look as seen in the game. I also plan to create an own turret fitting for the ship.
